Not Always Happily Ever After

Broken hearts and severed relationships are on my mind. One of my friends just went through a bad break up. I wrote this and thought of her, my younger self and the show Once Upon a Time. Where did that come from?

He tore out my heart
And put it in his pocket.
It was such an
Insignificant thing to him.
He tore out my heart
And let others look at it,
Laugh at it.
It didn’t matter that
I may need it later.
He laid claim to it himself;
Although he never planned to appreciate it.
He tore out my heart
And hid it somewhere.
He’s probably lending it out;
With no assurance that it comes back the same.
He tore out my heart
Though he is the heartless one.

    Enjoyed reading your “Not Happily Ever After” and have also experienced these feeling. Now that I am now older (and somewhat wiser) I can see that we as women experience these feelings. We women do not understand the thought process of a man is so completely different than ours. You state that “he never planned to appreciate our heart” that is because we let him, What many of us do as women is not tell him up front what we want and looking for in a relationship. Then when we get our hearts broken we wonder why could he hurt me like that and his thought is because I can. We never established any standards with him at the becoming of the relationship if we had it would not take long to see that his plan is completely different, His intent was never that serious and this is what caused the pain that is experienced when he walks.
